During the summer of 1988, Steve Harmon is a teenager in a Brooklyn neighborhood with a crime rate high enough to qualify as a slum. In a park near his home, Steve tries to evade two men who are following him. He ends up in the apartment of Mr. King, a mysterious older man who provides a safe haven. Steve begins spending time with King, who is an aspiring artist, and King's girlfriend, Sherry. But when Mr. King's drawings turn up as the mo.. in a series of murders, Steve is the main suspect.
